Think about how you would like to see an applicant dress at interview were you doing the hiring. The way you present yourself is representative of more than just your fashion sense; it demonstrates respect for your interviewer, the situation and your personal standards. No matter how expensive your trainers are, they will not impress the M.D. in an interview setting. Even if you can’t afford a designer suit, ensure that you have made every effort to turn up in clean, smart and appropriate dress.

Your comfort is very important at interview. If you feel that your trousers are too tight or your skirt is too short, rethink your outfit. You need to enter the interview room feeling as comfortable and confident as possible, able to focus on what’s going on in the room and not how much your belt is digging into your stomach!

Your hair is also an important indicator of personal standards. You may wish to consider a haircut if necessary prior to the interview, either way, keep it simple, neat and tidy.
